LSCU advocacy team facilitates roundtable

The LSCU advocacy team facilitated in-district roundtables with members of Florida’s congressional delegation. Gold Coast Federal Credit Union hosted Congresswoman Lois Frankel in West Palm Beach and additional credit union advocates from BrightStar, IBMSECU, and Guardians had the opportunity to tell the credit union story. Conversation centered on the credit union difference and the many ways credit unions positively impact the community.

Congressman Darren Soto visited with credit union advocates in Orlando at McCoy Federal Credit Union, along with representatives from FAIRWINDS, CFE, USF FCU, MidFlorida, Priority CU, and Orlando FCU. Discussion centered around regulatory relief and data security. There was robust discussion around the ways Congress, and specifically Soto, can help credit unions reduce the cost associated with burdensome regulations while also protecting their members and providing stellar service to the communities they serve.
Meetings back home in the district between congressional members and credit union officials is an important component of the League’s ongoing advocacy efforts. These meetings, as well as visits to our nation’s capital, are key to building relationships with lawmakers and ensuring they are hearing from the credit union industry.
Registration is now open for Hike the Hill, scheduled for Sept.12-13 in Washington D.C. This annual event is an excellent opportunity to bring the credit union message to congressional members and staff.
