Ann Romney to attend "leave behind" ribbon cutting

There will be a near standing room only crowd on hand for the ribbon cutting for the $300,000 therapeutic playground at All Children's Hospital. Ann Romney, wife of presumed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, will be a special guest. Ms. Romney will be among more than 100 people attending the credit union project ribbon cutting on Wednesday Aug. 29. Many of the attendees will be state and federal lawmakers.

The ribbon cutting will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday Aug. 29. For those attending, the ceremony has been pushed up 30 minutes from previous communications. Watch the LSCU Action Center Facebook page for updates from the ceremony.

The therapeutic playground has been five months in the making. The groundbreaking for the event took place in April with the area becoming transformed over the summer. A Volunteer Day was held in June as more than 75 credit union volunteers and Republican committee members began planting the sensory garden and putting together many of the toys for the playground. You can see videos from each event on the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation website.

CUNA has also put together a video that will play during the Republican National Convention this week. You can view the CUNA video by visiting the CUNA Elections webpage.

For credit unions still interested in contributing to the project, contact Southeastern Credit Union Foundation Director Leonard Parkhurst at 866.231.0545 ext. 1154.
