CUNA has organized a press event on Capitol Hill tomorrow to underscore how passage of the credit union member business lending (MBL) bill will help small businesses and the economy. Key members of Congress, coalition partners, credit unions, and small business owners are participating. Credit unions are encouraged to watch this event as it happens live via web stream Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m. EST.
This press event, which is in conjunction with The Hill newspaper, is a policy forum focused on the member business lending bill and small business’ ongoing need for access to capital.
The event will be held live from the Senate Dirksen Office Building on Capitol Hill on Wednesday Sept. 12, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern. You can watch the live video stream by
following this link shortly before the event begins.
The Hill’s editor-in-chief, Hugo Gurdon, will be the moderator. Joining with CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney as presenters are:
Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO) and Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), the chief Senate and House sponsors of the Credit Union Small Business Jobs Act;
Members of CUNA’s small business coalition (presenting results of a paper titled “No let-up in small business credit crisis: Expanding credit union lending authority a much needed first step”)
Credit union and small business representatives
Please mark your calendar to view the live web stream, which will last about an hour. With Congress back in session, this forum has been organized to highlight the urgency of passing the MBL legislation before the year is out. Members of Congress and their staff also have been notified and sent the link to the live web stream.
Congress is scheduled to remain in session until Sept. 21.
