The Florida Cabinet voted unanimously Tuesday morning to appoint State Street International Executive Vice President Drew Breakspear as the new commissioner of the Office of Financial Regulation. Breakspear's appointment will begin Nov. 5.
Breakspear joined State Street as senior vice president and general auditor in May of 1995 and was appointed an Executive Vice President in February of 2000. Prior to joining State Street, he was with First Nationwide Bank in San Francisco, where he was a senior vice president with responsibilities as director of audit, corporate compliance officer and chairman of the Corporate Compliance Committee, CRA officer and vice chairman of the Community Development Committee and member of the Policy and Strategy Committee
He has an MBA from Harvard University and a B. Com. from the University of the Witwatersrand. The League attended today's cabinet meeting and will set up a formal introduction meeting once Breakspear begins his duties.
