03/23/2010 03:33 pm
Community First CU of Florida CEO John Hirabayashi's letter pointed out the difference between President Obama's new program to lend $30 billion of repaid TARP money to community banks and Congress raising the credit union member business lending cap. Hirabayashi states that raising the cap would make accessible $10 billion for small businesses without costing taxpayers a dime. Since the letter was published another Florida member of Congress has signed on as a co-sponsor to MBL legislation bringing Florida's number to seven. More than 100 members of Congress are currently co-sponsoring
HR 3380, "Promoting Lending to America's Small Businesses Act of 2009."
