With more than 350,000 Haitians living in Florida, the need for Florida credit unions to take the lead in helping Haiti through this tragedy is imperative. The League of Southeastern Credit Unions’ Foundation Trustees approved a $10,000 donation to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. The LSCU donation follows national giving by CUNA, CUNA Mutual Group and AACUL.
“The LSCU Foundation Trustees saw the devastation in Haiti and quickly put together the $10,000 donation,” said LSCU President/CEO Patrick La Pine. “We hope that more credit unions will have the opportunity to give. The pictures and stories coming out of the country are heartbreaking. These donations are small steps in helping the country recover and also helping the credit unions on the island survive.”
