MBL legislation adds another Florida Congressman

A broad spectrum and bi-partisan group of members of the Florida Congressional delegation have expressed their support for increasing credit unions’ ability to lend to their members. From the most conservative to the most liberal, more than a half dozen legislators have signed on as co-sponsors to H.R. 3380.

The bill has more than 100 co-sponsors, the Floridians who have stepped up to support credit union member business lending are: Gus Bilirakis (R-9); Corrine Brown (D-3); Kathy Castor (D-11); Alan Grayson (D-8); Suzanne Kosmas (D-24); Jeff Miller (R-1); and Bill Posey (R-15).

It takes a team effort to secure support for legislation and this time was not different. The personal relationship of former EVP of the Florida Credit Union League Aletta Shutes with Rep. Miller, enabled the LSCU to secure his support with a just a phone call. Shutes is on contract to help raise CUPAC funds.
