The Senate Banking Committee did not consider six presidential nominees in a closed door executive session on July 16. The committee did not have a quorum to vote. That's expected to come on Thursday. The nominations include Richard Metsger for the NCUA board. This will be a two-step process. Once Metsger clears the executive session, his nomination will go to the full Senate for confirmation.
Metsger is looking to fill the seat vacated by Gigi Hyland following the end of her term. Metsger's term would be for four years and go until 2017. NCUA board terms are normally six years, but Hyland stayed longer than her term called for so a nominee could be identified.
