Alabama’s Mobile Educators Credit Union has reported a scam involving counterfeit cashier’s checks with their information.
On Friday, two different individuals from the state of Florida contacted the credit union to inquire about the checks which arrived via an overnight carrier service. After examining the checks, Mobile Educator’s Credit Union has determined they are counterfeit. Each check was written out in the amount of $4,800.
The credit union has notified Corporate America and advised the two victims to contact their local police immediately. Credit unions in Alabama and Florida should be on the look-out for similar checks and notify Mobile Educators Credit Union by calling 800.611.6589.
