The League's fall Hike the Hill is a very important time to meet with lawmakers. However, the trip usually includes a side meeting with the regulators this year the group met with the NCUA at their offices.
The NCUA meeting was attended by more than 40 credit union officials. The 90-minute session included NCUA Board Members Mike Fryzel and Richard Metsger. This was Metsger's first league briefing as he's just settling into his new role. The session was dominated by credit union questions from the group. Much of the conversation surrounded the regulatory burden from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). It was a very interactive session.
Last year the group met with the CFPB and Director Richard Cordray. Hike the Hill gets serious on Wednesday with Hill visits by Alabama and Florida credit union officials. Follow the visits on the League's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
