NCUA names Treichel to executive director role

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) approved Mark Treichel as its new executive director during Thursday’s closed board meeting. Treichel will replace Dave Marquis who announced last month he would retire at the end of the year. Treichel is currently the Regional Director for Region 1 and is responsible for the oversight of the chartering program for federal credit unions and the examination and supervision programs for all federally insured credit unions in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Mr. Treichel joined NCUA as an examiner in 1986. He has also served as a problem case officer, supervisory examiner, director of special actions and insurance, acting director of risk management in the Office of Examination and Insurance, associate regional director of operations and deputy executive director. He was named to his current position in April 2003.

Mr. Treichel holds an accounting degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
