National and local press continue to feature credit unions

Credit unions gained a huge media placement this week when ABC News filed a story on "9 Helpful Tips to Know Before Switching from Banks to Credit Unions." Reporter Matt Gutman talked to credit unions across the country about what they are seeing in the wake of new bank fees. Gutman, based in Miami, talks to a consumer that switched all of her local PTA money to Dade County Federal Credit Union after getting fed up. She estimates that she is saving the PTA $250 per year.

The ABC news placement has been by far the best. Credit unions in Alabama and Florida are getting strong media play in their local markets. WPLG in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale market talked with Tropical Financial Credit Union about the excessive fees. WHNT in Huntsville talked with Redstone Federal Credit Union about the fees and why they don't charge them. These two television stories are on top of the many newspaper stories across both states.

Former CBS anchor Dan Rather reported about credit unions and the bank fees on his HDNet show "Dan Rather Reports." Rather spent some time with Directions Credit Union in Toledo, OH. Click below to watch the story.
