Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL), who was term limited out as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, officially handed the gavel to Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX). Rep. Hensarling takes over as chairman, but he asked Rep. Bachus to stay on as chairman emeritus. This means that Rep. Bachus will remain on the committee in a senior role.
Rep. Bachus just completed his sixth term in leadership on the House Financial Services Committee as either the ranking member or chairman. He said on Thursday that he will rejoin the Judiciary Committee as the Chairman of the subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law.
