The Mortgage Originator's primary responsibility is developing and maintaining professional relationships with area realtors, builders, attorneys and other sources of residential mortgage referrals through outside calling. The position is responsible for increasing the credit union's mortgage lending production through direct sales of mortgage loan products by nurturing and successfully creating a referral system through these relationships.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates the origination of all first mortgages outside loan applications and assists in the consummation of the ultimate closing. Facilitates the mortgage loan application and ensures the compilation of the information is accurate and complete. Compares and evaluates possible financial products, develop solutions and recommend the product that best meets the need and financial circumstances of the applicant. Ensures all preliminary mortgage disclosures are complete and accurate and are distributed as required by appropriate compliance regulations. Cross sells appropriate credit union products and services not related to the mortgage loan application. Serves as a representative of the credit union at all times by developing relationships and service contacts in the real estate industry that results in referrals and mortgage loans.
Experience: Three to five years of residential mortgage origination experience.
Education: College Degree
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities becomes necessary.
Other Skills: Strong knowledge or financial aspects of mortgage origination and processing. Ability and proven track record of generating $10-$12 million annual mortgage production. Excellent communication and professional interaction skills. Strong math skills, computer skills and understanding of financial transactions.
