January 26 Meeting
The NCUA board met Jan. 26 and adopted a final rule regarding requirements for Interest Rate Risk management and policies. The rule will cover about 55 percent of federally insured credit unions. NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz said that the board will instruct examiners not to use the guidance provided with the IRR rule as an examination checklist, but we will monitor the implementation of the rule closely; compliance with the rule is required as of September 30, 2012. The board also issued a proposal with a short, 30-day comment period to address a number of issues relating to loan modifications and TDRs, including eliminating the requirement that TDRs have to be manually tracked for 5300 Call Report purposes.
