Join your peer CEOs in a lively discussion about the most current credit union issues. Credit union CEOs Alvin Cowans and Tina Williams will lead the roundtable which will focus in topics suggested by you and important to your credit union.
About the facilitators:
Alvin J. Cowans, CCUE, serving as President/CEO since November 1985 of McCoy Federal Credit Union in Orlando, Florida and has been in the financial industry since 1978. McCoy Federal is a large community credit union with over $540 million in assets as of December 2016. The Credit Union’s field of membership is the Orlando MSA serving Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake Counties currently with 14 Offices.
Alvin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. He furthered his education with several credit union institutions and designations to include Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE). Alvin Cowans has served in various capacities on several credit union industry boards and currently serves as Chairman of the League of Southeast Credit Unions (LSCU). He is serving on the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC). He also served on the Federal Reserves’ Consumer Advisory Council.
Tina Williams is the President/CEO of Mobile Educators Credit Union, in Mobile, Alabama. Mobile Educators is $80 million in assets and has 10,000 members. Tina has served as CEO since 2010. Tina started her credit union career in 1981 as a part- time employee of The Infirmary FCU. She also served as CEO of DCH Credit Union and returned to The Infirmary FCU to serve as CEO until 2010.
Tina has served on the Board of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions since 2009, serving as Treasurer, Secretary and currently Chair-Elect. She also served on the Alabama Credit Union League Board. During that time she served on the Executive Committee as Secretary.
Tina has served on the Board of the Southeastern Credit Union Management Association as Vice President. She has served the local credit union movement by serving as a Chapter officer in both the Tuscaloosa Chapter of Credit Unions and the Mobile Chapter of Credit Unions where she is currently Vice President.
