American Politics in a Time of Disruption
Dr. Steffen Schmidt, professor, Iowa State Univeristy
The 2016 race for the White House and for control of Congress is one of the most interesting and intense in the past hundred years. Outsiders on top of the polls. A Socialist Democrat challenging a dynastic Hillary Clinton. “The Donald” Trump driving the media and the GOP party nuts. Are both parties falling apart? Are we in a moment of massive disruption in US politics? Why are Americans so “angry?” Terrorist attacks around the world have changed the political discourse. Illegal immigration and a “YUUUGE” wall on the Mexican border. A divisive Supreme Court vacancy. Iowa State Prof. Steffen Schmidt, world famous expert and commentator, will slice and dice this exceptional political season. Schmidt is politically neutral. His talks are informative, thoughtful, but also very entertaining. Fasten your seat belts!
