This session will provide a regulatory update for some of the new and proposed regulations for Alabama and Florida. The group will also address some of each state’s priorities relative to their examination focus as well as economic and financial trend for credit unions.
About the speakers:
Carrie McCollum serves fulltime as General Counsel for the Alabama Credit Union Administration (ACUA). Prior to her ACUA role, serving as Deputy Legal Advisor in the Office of Governor, State of Alabama, from March 2013 to September 2016. Previous to government service, Ms. McCollum was Special Counsel at Jones Walker, LLP representing banks and financial institutions; Partner, Miller Hamilton Snider & Odom (regular outside counsel to Colonial Bank); and associate with both Sasser Littleton and Sirote & Permutt, with her law practice concentrating in the representation of financial institutions. She is a 1996 graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law; and, a 1993, cum laude, Tulane University graduate, having obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Sarah Moore has served as Administrator of the Alabama Credit Union Administration (ACUA) since July 1, 2014. She brings an extensive background in finance, operations and auditing to the position having served as a chief financial officer, chief operations officer and treasurer of a multi-state, publicly traded commercial bank and as an audit manager specializing in financial institutions with an international accounting and auditing firm. Prior to joining the ACUA, she was the managing director for Renaissance Companies for four years where she specialized in special asset disposition.
Bill Berg has been with the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (formerly the Florida Credit Union League) since 1988 and currently serves as the Vice President of Compliance Training and Information. Prior to joining the League, Bill worked for eleven years for the Federal Reserve of Atlanta – Jacksonville Branch. He is in his 39th year working in the financial industry.
Bill answers technical/regulatory questions via the telephone or through email; provides customized training to credit unions, chapters, and other groups; and was one of the principal authors of and is the editor of the Bankruptcy and Collections and Board of Directors Channels for InfoSight (The LSCU’s Online Compliance System) and facilitates planning sessions for credit unions. He was the speaker at the CUNA/NASCUS Bank Secrecy Act conference in Ft. Lauderdale and will be speaking again at this conference in San Antonio, TX.
