Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Credit Union’s Lending policies. Leads activities related to new product development, product implementation, and risk assessment, with respect to lending programs.
  • Manage loan growth to match the Credit Union’s strategic plan, while ensuring quality control, efficient processes, and quick turnaround through workflow management and cross training.
  • Strong, in-house credit risk management experience including collections, bankruptcy, foreclosures, and loss mitigation.
  • Responsible for directing and monitoring lending operations for the Credit Union to ensure that the Credit Union meets established strategic goals and objectives with respect to loans.
  • Books loans into the data processing system. Verifies all information within DP system is correct. Ensures all documentation is located in the imaging system under the member’s account number.
  • Provides an overview of results and presents emerging trends for review/discussion.
  • Develops and reviews loan products.
  • Leadership and oversight of staff development including training program assignments, leadership development opportunities, and regular department meetings/coaching.
  • Stay abreast of and provide leadership on new regulatory developments impacting lending policies, product compliance, and loan underwriting guidelines.
  • Manages the collection and recovery functions, keeping delinquency and charge-offs at or below the credit union’s goal.
  • Develops relationships with vehicle dealerships to increase loan originations and memberships.
  • Research and respond to Credit Bureau disputes.
  • Maintains an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies, procedures, and rules and regulations.
  • Maintains an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all Credit Union products and services that are handled or promoted by service representatives.
  • Attend job-specific training classes as requested by Management. This includes, but is not limited to, completing annual BSA Compliance Training.

Education/Experience Required:

Bachelors’ degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar discipline helpful.

Bachelors’ degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar discipline helpful.
Five plus years of lending experience at a financial institution (credit union experience a plus).
Extensive experience underwriting loans and expediting loan approval process.
Extensive experience analyzing and building loan portfolios.
Requires current knowledge of consumer lending practices and credit granting criteria, as well as federal laws regulating consumer lending functions.
Strong verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills are necessary to interact professionally and effectively with all staff and members.
Must be able to work without direct supervision.
Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
