Interview and discuss mortgage program and products with prospective mortgage applicants. Ensure member understands eligibility requirements for the product prior to submitting an application. This position contacts all referrals provided from various sources and conducts a conversation with the member/prospect to determine the best loan product and structure to meet the perceived or unperceived needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Submit accurate and complete loan applications. Structure application product terms and pricing to ensure meet members need. Initiate and execute application disclosures in accordance with compliance and regulatory standards. Move applications into processing within established time frames.
Provide effective follow up contact with members after receipt of mortgage referrals from various sources. Provide thorough explanation of products, pricing and closing costs. Explain program eligibility and guidelines for qualification. Review documentation checklist.
Remain knowledgeable of all product guidelines and updates. Maintain open lines of communication with processor and other Mortgage Operations partners.
Provide support to other critical areas of mortgage lending and projects or assignments as identified.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Ability to work in a high stress and fast paced environment. A high degree of mortgage and some underwriting knowledge along with familiarity with basic mortgage paperwork and process is required. Strong attention to detail, organizational and analytical analysis skills are required. Individual must present a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including CRTs, typewriters, telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements:
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete complex mathematical calculations and spell accurately. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
Minimum of three years experience in the Mortgage industry
