Credit unions get FiCEP training

Credit unions from across Alabama and Florida are taking part in the LSCU's first REAL Solutions Enhanced Financial Counseling Certificate Program (FiCEP). Last week students began working toward their Credit Union Certified Financial Counselor (CUCFC) designation at Guardian Credit Union in Montgomery.

The LSCU’s first FiCEP class was launched in 2013 with 47 students taking part. Participants join together for bi-weekly group webinars to help them stay on track and provide an opportunity to ask questions as they study each of the eight modules. In-person group training sessions are being held in Alabama and Florida for Part I & Part II providing hands on training with experienced counselors, as well as the opportunity to network, share best practices, and prepare for exams. Participants will be able to test as a group or individually. Special training and coaching will be provided to help develop a detailed vision and plan for financial counseling at your credit union.

A second class is being scheduled for 2014. If you are interested in finding out more information about the program, please contact Adena Whitman
