Credit unions that are looking to offer more products and services to low-income or underserved members should attend a free NCUA webinar on Jan. 15. The "
Profiling Products and Services for Underserved" webinar begins at 2pm EST. This is a follow-up webinar from the Jan. 23, 2013 webinar "
Strategic Use of the Low-Income Designation." The best part of these NCUA webinars is that credit unions give examples of the different stages of products and services that meet the need of the undeserved market. Staff from three credit unions will share how they developed unique offerings like:
Second-chance loans and second-chance checking accounts
An alternative to payday loans funded with U.S. Treasury Community Development Financial Institutions Fund proceeds
Value-added partnerships with municipalities and community service organizations
The webinar also will provide an overview of the NCUA Community Development Revolving Loan Fund 2014 Grants Round. The webinar is open to credit unions of all asset sizes. You can
register on the NCUA's website. Participants can also submit questions in advance at
WebinarQuestions@ncua.gov. The subject line of the email should read, “Underserved Products and Services Webinar.”
