Role: Responsible for underwriting consumer loan applications originated through branches, internet and contact center. Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and possess a thorough knowledge of credit union loan guidelines, procedures, and lending systems, along with knowledge of all credit union products and services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Examine loan applications to perform credit underwriting analysis and make appropriate decisions regarding credit granting and credit limits for all loan types including secured and unsecured products based on information from the application and other sources, such as credit bureau reports.
Track and monitor performance, ensure service and turn around times are maintained according to standards as well as ratios of booked loans to delinquencies are maintained.
Determine that all loans opportunities are exhausted while maintaining the risk and security elements of the lending portfolio.
Interact with other lending personnel so that we completely understand the member's needs in order to reach an equitable solution.
Back office support and report generation. Other projects and/or assignments.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Candidates must also have excellent organizational and time management skills.
Other Skills: Personal skills include attention to detail, analytical analysis, procedure and policy writing and compliance. Computer and software skills include Word, Excel, Outlook etc. Must possess a high degree of underwriting knowledge as well as debt and risk management. Ability to accurately assess credit risk, good analytic skills, and experience with risk based lending.
Experience: Minimum of two years of consumer lending experience. Underwriting experience is preferred. Must possess a high degree of underwriting knowledge as well as debt and risk management. Ability to accurately assess credit risk, good analytic skills, and experience with risk based lending. The process involves in-depth credit review of both systems and external data to satisfy each loan request.
Education: A college degree
