Modeled after the National Credit Union Foundation’s successful Credit Union Development Education (CUDE) program, the workshop provides participants with a historical perspective on credit unions and cooperatives while focusing on how to implement the seven cooperative principles of credit unions in their day-to-day work activities.

This course will:

  • Help credit union staff and board members grasp the importance of change within the financial marketplace.
  • Highlight the link between new regulations, competition, technological advances, and the future role of your credit union.
  • Demonstrate how interrelated forces in the industry – channel usage, consolidation, trust – are driving change at the local level.
  • Give staff members the knowledge they need to feel empowered and invested in the success of your credit union.
  • Identify the importance of cooperative principles – past, present, and future.

This workshop is ideal for staff or directors new to credit unions, individuals moving into senior management, or anyone who just wants to get re-energized about the credit union movement and the principles that make credit unions unique.

It is a very interactive session and is designed to get participants to think, individually and as groups, about new approaches to similar problems. Participants then take the lessons learned back to their own credit unions and share them throughout their organizations.
