Young Professionals Group
We’re so glad that you’ve made the decision to become a LSCU Credit Union Young Professional! At this point, you’re probably wondering what this group is all about and how to get involved. You’ve come to the right place! Use this page to get started on your credit union YP journey!
What is the purpose of the Young Professionals Group?
The LSCU Young Professionals Group (YPG) is made up of young credit union professionals, 40 years of age and younger, in Alabama and Florida working to positively impact the credit union movement and the communities they serve through networking, mentorships, and collective action.
- To help young professionals develop and grow so they can become the next generation of CEOs and leaders in the credit union movement.
- To educate YPs about the history and opportunities within the credit union industry. If you’re new to credit unions, our movement is truly different from any other industry on the planet. As a credit union employee, you have an amazing opportunity to help others and make a difference.
- To inform and empower you to get involved with political advocacy. It’s easier than you think and vital to the survival of credit unions!
- To impact your community and make it a better place for all by partnering with other YPs to strengthen the collaborative spirit.
- To increase your knowledge exchange and professional development opportunities
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
STEP 1: GET REGISTERED
If you haven’t already done so, officially register as a member of the YPG here. You’ll start your journey as a YP and be invited to participate in local activities throughout the year.
STEP 2: GET CONNECTED
Once you’ve completed the registration process, you’ll be added to the communication list for your local YPG. Be sure to follow the LSCU YP Facebook page to stay up to date about the latest events and opportunities. Your local YPG may also have social media accounts to follow as well.
STEP 3: JUMP IN
Every chapter is different, but the best way to become actively involved in LSCU’s Young Professional Group is to start participating in events in your area.
Networking Meetups: These are gatherings of local YPs in your community. Attending these events is a great way to network, collaborate and learn.
Chapter Events: If you’re not attending them already, chapter events are another great way to get involved in the credit union movement. Chapter events bring credit unions together from all over your community. You’ll see CEOs, board members, and credit union employees of all levels here.
YP Think Tank: The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates holds a conference especially for YPs during the fall. You’ll get an opportunity to network with other YPs from Alabama and Florida and hear from speakers that will help you grow in your career.
YP Rates at LSCU Events: LSCU supports the YPG and encourages involvement at all LSCU events. For this reason, a discounted registration rate is typically available for YPs to attend conferences and events (including the Southeast Credit Union Conference & Expo and the State Advocacy Conference). Visit the LSCU Events Calendar for more information.

YP Sponsorship Program
Many credit unions have expressed an interest in leaving a larger footprint within the credit union movement. After much thought and consideration, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates has created an annual campaign where industry leaders can contribute a sponsorship of $2500 or more that will directly impact the future leaders within the credit union world, our Young Professionals of Florida and Alabama.
If your credit union is interested in joining these industry leaders by supporting this initiative, please contact LSCU Director, Membership Relations Jordan Burroughs.
